Madhuri dixit Madhuri dixit Indian actress known for her work in the film Hum Aapke Hain Koun (Beta Saajan) and Beta Saajan is one of the most adored Indian actors. She began her career in the early 1980s and was introduced to fame with her appearance in Tezaab, a film where she played alongside the veteran actor Anil Kapoor. Then she appeared in the film Dil In which she shared the screen alongside Aamir Khan. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai she began learning to dance at an early age. At the age of 15 when she began to act, she faced difficulties as most of her movies were unsuccessful. She finally found success, and then went on to be one of the best-known actors in the Indian film business. Following her marriage the actress took time out from acting, prior to returning. Recently, she had an integral role in the film Gulaab Gang which was about the struggles of women in India. Dixit has been nominated 15 times at the Filmfare Awards. She won eight of them. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian prize awarded to civilians in India is bestowed to her. Her involvement in the social sector is well-known.
